FAQ

1. Can I give Tualang Honey to my baby?
Honey and any other health supplement should not be consumed by infants under one year of age.

2. Is it true that we cannot use metal spoon when mixing honey in water?
NO, even though honey is a bit acid, it is the same as any acid edible, where you can still use a metal spoon to take it, but if it stays long enough on metal it can destroy it a bit. So it is not recommended to use a metal container to store the honey or store a metal spoon within the honey for long periods of time.

3. When is the best time to take Tualang honey?
Tualang honey can be consumed at any time. Consume honey in the morning with an empty stomach may help to boost your energy level and may enhance digestion & absorption of nutrients. While consuming honey before bedtime would allow you to sleep soundly through the night.

4. What is the recommended intake of the Tualang honey?
1 – 2 tablespoons (~20g) per day for healthy adults. It can be taken maximum up to 50g per day under certain conditions, e.g. sore throat, to relieve cough etc.

5. Can diabetic patients consume Tualang honey?
Honey is a carbohydrate food just like rice and potatoes but it has a lower Glycemic Index than sugar (one tablespoon of honey has approximately 17 grams of carbohydrate). With appropriate control, many diabetics and pre-diabetes are still able to safely enjoy natural honey. In fact, research reveals that the perfect one-to-one ratio of fructose and glucose found in honey facilitates glucose intake to the liver, hence preventing an overload of glucose from entering the blood circulation.

6. Is it safe for a pregnant woman to consume Tualang honey?
Yes. Tualang honey is safe and nutritious food for pregnant women.

7. Tualang honey is good for our gastrointestinal system. Does it heal the peptic ulcer disease?
Tualang honey might not able to heal the peptic ulcer but it relieves signs and symptoms, fastens the healing process, improves digestion, and can be used together with the antibiotic regime for Helicobacter pylori cause PUD (peptic ulcer disease) for synergistic effects.

8. Can people with allergy problems take Tualang honey?
Though it is very uncommon, allergic reactions have been reported after honey use. For a person who is allergic to pollen, allergic reactions would be triggered as raw honey contains pollen. Should there be any adverse reactions after taking honey, please stop taking and an allergy test is advised.

9. What are the best doses and administration methods for children?
Honey should not be given to babies younger than 1 year old. For children under 3 years ¼ of a dose of an adult. For children between 3 – 8 is better to use ⅓ of the adult dose and for the children between 8 – 12 use half (½) of the adult dose.

10. Do I need to store the Tualang honey in the refrigerator?
Honey should not store in the refrigerator, just keep it under room temperature and prevent it from direct sunlight If properly stored, honey will not spoil. However, honey will ferment if it is diluted by moisture from the atmosphere or by other liquids. Prevent fermentation by keeping the honey bottle tightly closed before and between uses.

11. The honey is crystallized, is it spoiled?
Raw honey will crystallize over time. This is because it contains glucose and fructose, and very low water content. Raw honey with low water content and higher glucose content crystallizes faster than those with high water content and lower glucose content.

12. How to dissolve crystallized honey?
Place the crystallized honey bottle into a larger bowl, add warm water (about 40-50’C, do not use hot boiling water, hot boiling water will destroy the nutrients and natural enzymes in the honey), let sit for hours (depend on the honey decrystalized speed), once the honey decrystalized, the color will turn darker. You may also use a wooden/plastic stick to take out a small amount of crystallized honey and mix it with water to dissolve it.
